MTN slashes its pricing for home fibre

If you’re in the market for a home fibre internet connection you may want to cast an eye in the direction of MTN, which has just slashed its Supersonic fibre data bundles by 50 percent.

If you sign up to an MTN Supersonic 24-month contract before 1 October 2016, you will receive free installation, a free router and bonus data bundles.

MTN has also dropped the installation fee for month-to-month contracts from R3 000 to R999.

“MTN customers have a wide variety of data bundles to choose from, starting from the 20GB bundle which comes with 20GB of bonus data and 40GB of night data for R40. The 1000GB of bundle is inclusive of 1000GB of bonus data and 2000GB of night data for R999,” MTN explained in a statement.

The company currently doesn’t have an uncapped package.

It did give an example however, of two of the packages available:

On the Supersonic 1 package for a monthly subscription of R764, you will get 100GB of data, 100GB bonus data and 200GB of night data at speeds of 20 megabits per second (Mbps).

On the Supersonic 2 package, you will get 500GB of provisioned data, 500GB worth of bonus data and 100GB of night data at speeds of 50 Mbps for a monthly subscription of R1299.

There is of course a package for heavy users, in the form of Supersonic 3: 1TB of data, 1TB of bonus data and 2TB of night data at speeds of 100 Mbps – for a monthly cost of R1699.

“his pricing is compelling and offers value to our customers. The bonus data and the night data that are inclusive in these packages ensures that we provide competitive solutions that meet the diverse needs of our customers and continue to lead the delivery of a bold, new digital world,” said Chief Enterprise Business Officer at MTN Business, Alpheus Mangale.

Fibre from MTN is only available in five provinces at the moment: Gauteng, Western Cape, Kwa-Zulu Natal and the Eastern Cape provinces.
