The Hearthstone community is incredible. With only a shred of information players can all but confirm what’s likely to be in the new content Blizzard has planned for its game.
The rumour mill has been hard at work guessing what the next Hearthstone adventure will be, and it appears that Blizzard will be transporting players to Karazhan.
How exactly the rumour mill landed on Medivh’s home takes a bit of explaining so let’s start at the beginning.
Earlier this month on a Chinese forum, a user predicted that we would be getting Morgl the Oracle as a new hero skin. Two days later, Morgl appeared.
That gives the user a bit of credibility which has caused another rumour they posted to get Hearthstone fans in a tizzy. The user said that the next adventure would be based on a World of Warcraft raid that was represented by three Chinese characters.
These raids are: Terrace of Endless Springs, Ulduar and Karazhan.
How the rumour mill settled on Karazhan
This past weekend at a Fireside Gathering at the University of California, Irvine, a tweet showing off a golden invitation to a “magical event” was posted by the official Hearthstone Twitter account.
Still plenty of prizes and good times at today's Fireside Gathering on the UCI campus! We'll be here until 5 PDT! pic.twitter.com/JumiQzh7S2

The clue that points to Karazhan in the invitation is that little symbol at the bottom of the text.
While it does look like the bottom of a fleur-de-lis, YouTuber Disguised Toast reckons its likely the symbol harks back to Medivh, the resident crazed-mage of Karazhan. The ‘Tuber says that the symbol looks remarkably like Medivh’s beard and moustache.
Beyond that, Disguised Toast alleges that the hero skin for Medivh said “my sincerest apologies” when players triggered the sorry emote. The use of “our most sincere hope” in the golden invitation is reportedly another reference to Medivh.
Then earlier today Blizzpro posted an invite to a Hearthstone event which will be held on July 28th.
The feathers are yet another reference to Medivh along with the use of the word magic, again. The cocktail glasses, musical notes and stars could also all be a reference to the opulent feasts and parties that were held in Karazhan.
We aren’t saying that this is 100% confirmed but the evidence all points to the next expansion being themed around Karazhan and Medivh. It isn’t a mural painted on a wall in Brooklyn, but for now its something.
We guess we’ll just have to wait until 28th July at 08:00 for Blizzard to tell us where we will be traveling to next on its Twitch livestream.
While you wait, we recommend watching Disguised Toast’s run down of why he thinks Karazhan is the next adventure.
