#SABC asks for postponement of Labour Court case against fired journos

As predicted by trade union Solidarity, the SABC has asked for a postponement of the Labour Court application brought forward against the suspensions and dismissals of four of the eight fired journalists.

The public broadcaster’s legal representatives, Advocate Bantubonke Tokota, along with Advocates Themba Skhosana and Zuko Madlanga, told the court it needed more time to consult with its clients and asked for it to be postponed.

Solidarity CEO, Dirk Hermann had said they would ask the court not to postpone the hearing and push for it to go on, however, Judge Robert Le Grange granted the public broadcaster the postponement.

Le Grange wasn’t happy with the SABC’s unpreparedness, explaining to them that they knew about the case beforehand and had no excuse.

The matter will be back in court tomorrow at 12:30pm.
