City Power has managed to restore power in most central and north-eastern Jobrug suburbs which were affected by a widespread power cut from as early as 5am today.
The power outage affected areas such as Observatory and Braamfontein to as far as Sandton and Alexandra.
According to City Power, it was caused by a faulty cable.
By around 3pm today, the power utility had announced an estimated time of restoration of 5pm to most areas.
However, some residents reported issues with power returning and being cut off again.
