In 2014 Sony tried some something for the first time: to make an original television series for its PlayStation Network in the form of Powers. It was much akin to Netflix’s Original – a series specifically made for the platform.
When it launched, the series was met with mixed responses and it seems now that after two seasons, the show has been cancelled.
We were kind of hopeful for it, since it starred our very own Sharlto Copley, funny man Eddie Izzard and Susan Heyward.
The made-for-Sony series was an adaptation of the comic books first published in 2000 through Image Comics.
Show creator Brian Bendis tweeted the news, saying that it was a pretty hard announcement to make.
this is hard to tweet, but word is that @POWERStheSERIES is sadly, no more. season 2 was the last. at least for now. 1/2

But he also added that Marvel will be taking the story line further, and it will be called Diamond Days
According to Engadget, “the show was a bit of a trial run to test the waters of original programming on its PlayStation Network, so the show’s cancellation doesn’t bode well for more full-length streaming series on PSN.”
