[UPDATE as at 7:25pm: Power has been restored to most affected areas]
Scores of areas in Joburg have been hit by power outages that started as early as 5am this morning, leaving many in the cold and unable to work.
Planned outages were originally scheduled for only four suburbs today, as announced by City Power.
The power supplier later announced another planned outage that would affect Joburg and Marshalltown from 11pm to 6am.
However, many residents near the city centre and in the northern suburbs reported power outages.
@CityPowerJhb @CityofJoburgZA Alexandra is also affected by power outage. Please look into it
