Iconic Batman team from the 60’s to star in new animated film

Adam West and Burt Ward are set to reprise their roles as Batman and Robin from the 1960’s television show in a new film.

The team of West and Ward made the announcement in a trailer for the new film, Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders.

We think the trailer is an excellent homage to the classic Batman TV series which spanned three seasons between 1966 to 1968 but you can make your own mind up by watching it below

If you can’t see the video for whatever reason allow us to offer a brief summation.

The trailer opens with the Boy Wonder and the Dark Knight edging toward a GIANT OVEN (a nod to the 1960’s show which labeled pretty much everything) on a food tray.

The pair discuss their predetermined doom briefly before Robin points out this could be their last meal and Batman announces that this is the one time that he would advocate eating dessert first.

Dessert in this instance is “a new Batman film” floating in a what we can only assume is a type of food that eats through rope and nothing else.

Using this odd foodstuff Batman is able to free himself and grappling hook himself and Robin out of harms way. The pair then drop a few spoilers in the form of the villians they will be facing.

We know for a fact that Julie Newmar will reprise her role as Catwoman but it isn’t yet clear who will be playing Joker, Riddler and Penguin.

Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders in HD DVD will be swinging into retail and digital stores in the US on 11th October with a Blu-Ray version slated for a 1st November release.
