Instagram brings pinch-zoom to photos and video

Facebook-owned photo sharing app Instagram will from today feature one of the most requested add-ons ever since it launched a couple of years ago: pinch zooming.

If you access the app on iOS, all that you have to do in order to get the functionality is to simply update the app. From there, any picture and video will be able to be zoomed into by pinching your fingers on the screen.

“Today we’re bringing ZOOM to Instagram on iOS! Pinch to zoom on photos & videos in feed, on profiles and on Explore,” the company said on its Twitter feed.

What that means, is that you won’t just be able to zoom on people’s photo who you follow, but any picture hosted on the service.

An Android update is apparently in the works, set to roll out “in the coming weeks.”

The update is the first major change for the app, ever since it unveiled its new logo at the beginning of the year.

“Over the past six months, you’ve seen many exciting changes come to Instagram, from a new icon to longer videos and even a new way to share everyday moments with Instagram Stories. And as things change, we’re still focused on improving the core parts of Instagram,” it explained on its own Instagram profile.

If you ever wanted to see just a bit more detail while stalking someone online, well… know you can.

For those that don’t have iOS device and want to see it in action, PetaPixel made a video to show you.
