Humble Bundle kicked off with an “End of Summer Sale” yesterday and they’re giving away a free game to anyone with an account on the site.
The free game is the strategy title Tropic 4. Keep in mind that that game is only free for a limited time. At the time of writing, there was only one day and ten hours (34 hours) left to pick it up.
If you do manage to get in on that window you will have Tropico 4 redeemed to your account where you can get a Steam key. Last night we did just that and the game is sitting in our Steam library.
A quick glance at the rest of the site and reveals that a standard large sale is on. Not everything is on sale, but a lot of titles are.
Of note are the collected sales which incorporate a publisher or specific property. We’ve listed them below:
- Kalypso Sale
- Build Your Own 2K Bundle
- Activision Sale
- Bandai Namco Sale
- Bethesda Sale
- Paradox Interactive Sale
- Star Wars Sale
- Capcom Sale
Finally, we’d like to end off with something of a warning. Thanks to Steam’s regional pricing and generally lower prices for us in South Africa, some games are cheaper to buy at full price from Steam when compared to the discounted price on Humble Bundle.
One such example is the recently-released EARTH DEFENSE FORCE 4.1 The Shadow of New Despair. Steam’s pricing for South Africa puts it at R489. Back on Humble Bundle, the same game has been discounted by 30%, bringing the price down to $34.99, which converts to R496. Yes, it’s only a R7 difference, but that’s important when you’re comparing discounted games to full price games.
Just keep this in mind when purchasing as the currency conversions fluctuate and this comparison definitely won’t be true for every game.
Make sure you get Tropico 4 for free and that you shop around before hitting purchase.
