Ekurhuleni looking for techies to solve city’s challenges

This month, the City of Ekurhuleni will be hosting a hackathon to find solutions to some of its biggest problems and it’s looking for participants to sign up.

Taking place at the end of this month, Hack Ekurhuleni is organised by the city’s ICT department.

It first started as an isolated event and has now grown into a more structured community with the purpose of expanding ICT skills and the developer community.

The hackathon’s theme is “A Digitally Connected City”, which is centred on the internet of things (IoT ), big data, analytics. The City will provide participants with access to Open Data to use.

Hack Ekurhuleni is open to programmers, designers, creatives, analyst, data scientist of all ages, up for grabs is R150 000 in prizes.

If you’re interested in taking part, you can register for free online. All you need to bring is a laptop, sleeping bag and a warm jacket.

Hack Ekurhuleni takes place from Friday, 30th September to Sunday, 2nd October in Germiston.
