Google looks set to unveil out its new Pixel line of smartphones on 4th October.

The search engine giant sent out media invitations for an event on that date and also released a video of a search box that transforms into the shape of a smartphone.

In case you thought the song sounded familiar, it is Redbone’s ‘Come And Get Your Love’, which was also featured on the Awesome Mix Vol. 1 for Guardians of the Galaxy.

We are sure that the 4th October event won’t just be about the phone, as many pundits have speculated that we might get to see  Google announce two more products, possibly a 4K-capable Chromecast and a new Daydream VR headset.

It’s is rumoured that there will be two Pixel variations: a 5-inch and a 5.5-inch.

Google’s Nexus smartphones never made it to South Africa, but we will find out on the 4th if the Pixel (if that is even what it’s called) will buck this trend. We have reached out to Google in South Africa in the mean time.
