Discovery Vitality Active Rewards members can apply for an Apple Watch Series 2 Sport tomorrow

There’s good news on the horizon for the active among you that want an Apple Watch Series 2. Discovery has confirmed that Vitality members with a Discovery Card can start applying for the new wearable from 14th October.

The move to offer Vitality members an Apple Watch Series 2 follows on from the initiative Discovery launched last year which saw more than 25 000 members taking up the offer.

Unlike last year however, Discovery Card holders will need to pay a non-refundable R600 activation fee with their primary card to get the Watch Series 2. The fee for the original Apple Watch was R350.

“The activation fee gives you access to fully fund an Apple Watch Series 2 Sport 38mm through the Vitality Active Rewards with Apple Watch benefit if you meet all your Vitality Active Rewards goals over 24 months,” Discovery tells us.

In addition to paying the fee you need at least a Discovery Gold Card with a straight limit of R15 000 and an available balance of R5 000.

If you meet those requirements all you need to do to get the Watch Series 2 tomorrow is the following.

Firstly download the Discovery app on your iPhone (you can only use the Watch with an iPhone) and log in. Once in the app head to Vitality Active Rewards, select Apple Watch and tap Get started. Follow the instructions to complete the process, pay the activation fee and just like that you have an Apple Watch Series 2.

The Apple Watch Series 2 was revealed at a press event in September. The update to the widely loved Apple Watch boasts a number of improvements including a GPS that will allow runners to track their run without needing to lug around their iPhone. While you aren’t able to go deep-sea diving with the Watch Series 2, Apple has said that the Watch will survive a swim and that the wearable is water resistant up to 50m.

The Apple Watch Series 2 arrives on local shelves this Friday along with the latest iPhone 7. If you’re a Discovery Vitality Active Rewards member though, you can fund your Apple Watch Series 2 over 24 months by completing your four weekly activities.

UPDATE 13/10: Discovery has informed us that stocks are limited and that interested members should first check the iStore website for availability of the Apple Watch Series 2.
