Correction: We can’t tell our ISP from our elbow

Yesterday (17th October) we published an article regarding a problem with the SEACOM underwater internet cable that provides connectivity between Africa and Europe which was affecting some internet users in SA. In the article, we stated that the ISP who had brought the matter to our attention was Crystal Web. In fact it was Cybersmart. We’d like to make it clear that different ISPs use different service providers for their international connectivity, and that international cable providers also have contingency plans in place to deal with faults, so not all customers will have been affected by an issue with one cable.
