Hearthstone’s Greetings From Gadgetzan teased

With BlizzCon 2016 just around the corner, one would expect Blizzard to keep any announcement it has about new game content under wraps. After all, what’s BlizzCon without a couple of surprise announcements?

So it’s a little puzzling to see Blizzard’s official Hearthstone Twitter account post what looks like an announcement for a new expansion for the developer’s card-battling game.

The above ‘postcard’ appears to be teasing new content for Hearthstone, although whether it’s for a new adventure or a brand new set of expansion packs is unclear at this stage. For what it’s worth, though, it looks like Hearthstone players are in line for some shiny new cards.

Welcome to Gadgetzan

If you’re not familiar with Gadgetzan, it’s a city in Tanaras in the south of Kalimdor and the headquarters of a goblin faction called the “Steamwheedle Cartel”.

The reason it’s worth knowing this as a Hearthstone player is because whether Greetings From Gadgetzan (or whatever the expansion ends up being called) will likely feature goblin-themed creatures and spells.

This is great news for any player who has missed the likes of Dr. Boom, Sneed’s Old Shredder and the Enhance-O-Mechano since these cards were phased out of Standard play with the rest of the Goblins vs Gnomes expansion earlier this year.

If you want some more information on what to expect from Gadgetzan, Blizzard has posted a picture of the front page of the Gadgetzan Gazette on the official Hearthstone site.

Click on that and magnify, and you may just see a link to a chat with a character called “Talan” at Talan’s Bar. Copy and paste that and it’ll take you to a Facebook chat with… ahem, Talan himself.

The chat won’t reveal any information on new cards, but it’s worth having for the new artwork and zany nature of it alone.

It’s likely that Blizzard will reveal new details about Greetings From Gadgetzan next week at BlizzCon – htxt.africa will be there, so for all your news on what to expect, check back when the curtain goes up on 4th November.
