Project Isizwe shortlisted for international WiFi award

Project Isizwe’s work in the City of Tshwane has earned the organisation international recognition again with the announcement that it’s been shortlisted for a global WiFi award.

Project Isizwe has been nominated for the 2016 WiFi NOW Awards in the Affordable Internet Connection category, alongside two other international initiatives.

The awards are hosted hosted in during the premier WiFi NOW International expo and conference in London from 25th to 27th October.

The WiFi Now Awards feature four other categories: Best In-Home WiFi Product, Best WiFi Startup, Best WiFi Innovation Award and Best WiFi Service Provider.

“We’re delighted that so many great WiFi companies have chosen to enter the WiFi NOW Awards. It has been an extremely tight race with the top entrants scoring within a few percent over each other,” the awards’ organisers said.

Project Isizwe currently has over 803 Free Internet Zones (FIZs) in Tshwane has connected over 1 800 000 unique users in the Capital City since November 2013, logging over 90 Million sessions.

Tshwane plans to add 61 more FIZs by the end of this year.
