Windows Store version of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare doesn’t play with Steam

If you plan to buy Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare through the Windows Store, you might want to take a gander at the game’s FAQ section first.

While you might think that buying the game for PC would mean that you will be playing the game with other PC gamers using Steam, think again. According to Activision, if a user buys the game through the Windows Store they will only be able to play the game with other players that bought the game through the Windows Store.

[su_quote]Can I play Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare or Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered for Windows 10 on Windows Store with my friends that are playing on another PC platform?

No, you can only play these titles with other users of Windows 10 on Windows Store.[/su_quote]

In addition to this what is arguably one of the biggest shooter franchises out there won’t support Xbox Play Anywhere meaning if you buy the game for PC from the Windows 10 store you’ll only be able to play it on PC and not Xbox. The same instance applies for those who bought the game on Xbox One.

Of course one could argue that PC gamers can just head to Valve’s Steam platform and buy the game there, but you’ll end up paying more.

On Steam the vanilla Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare is on sale for R999 while on the Windows Store it retails for R809, a 19% saving.

The Digital Legacy Edition, which includes Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered is R1 299 on Steam and R1 039 through Windows and the Digital Deluxe Edition which includes Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered, the Infinite Warfare Season Pass and Digital Content is a whopping R1 499 on Steam but just R1 199 through Windows.

Local fans have a bit of a choice to make then, either hand over more money to Steam or convince all your friends to buy the game through the Windows Store so you can get a bargain.
