htxt.africast – Samsung, The Last Guardian and why banks host hackathons

We have a bumper edition of the htxt.africast this week so get yourself a nice beverage and settle in as we discuss the week that was.

First up we discuss a find by a team of engineers that might point to why the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 might have been prone to catching fire.

Then Nick had the pleasure of playing The Last Guardian, a game he has spent years waiting for. Without spoiling too much, he wasn’t overly impressed.

Finally we ask the question – why do banks hold hackathons? Adam Oxford reports from the annual Investec 24 hour hackathon to find out what drives serious financial institutions to partake of this madness. He talks to Investec’s global head of digital, Lyndon Subroyen.

As we mentioned this is a bumper edition of the africast so expect it to be a bit longer than usual.
