Elite Dangerous will land on Playstation 4 in 2017

Good news for space faring gamers, Frontier Developments’ Elite Dangerous is coming to Playstation 4.

The developer has not given an exact date of release but said that the game will hit retail in “Q2 2017”. There is no mention of the game having support for PS VR just yet but we’re hoping that news of that comes closer to the release of the game.

Gamers on Playstation will get the same content their Xbox One and PC counterparts have enjoyed for some time now. This includes the Elite Dangerous: Horizons season pass which brings with it planet landings but there are a few features that will be exclusive to Sony’s console.

Frontier Developments has said the port will bring with it touch navigation which will allow gamers to bring up the galaxy map with a swipe and the ability to quickly move the pilots head by moving the Dual Shock 4 controller.

“We’re thrilled to bring Elite Dangerous to PlayStation 4,” said Frontier Developments chief executive officer and Elite Dangerous co-creator David Braben. “Elite Dangerous is unlike any other space game, with a rich multiplayer or single-player space, a true-to-life galaxy including our own entire night sky, real physics, unique ship handling characteristics and a player-driven narrative that’s really heating up.

Braben concluded by saying, “The galaxy has been stable for centuries, but all that is about to change. PlayStation 4 players will be joining our galaxy at a very exciting time.”
