Fallout 4 is getting high-res textures that require a GTX 1080

If you’ve been looking for an excuse to dive back into the wastelands of Fallout 4, Bethesda has some news that may interest you.

Next week Fallout 4 will getting an update which aims to improve the visual fidelity of the game on both the Playstation 4 Pro and PC.

Update 1.9 for the Playstation will allow the game to run at a native resolution of 1440p. The update will also improve the draw distance of trees, grass and other objects including NPCs.

While trudging through the Commonwealth you may also notice better Godray effects after the update.

PC gamers are getting what Bethesda calls “a love letter to our amazing PC fans…”

This “love letter” is a 58GB download that contains a High-Resolution Texture Pack with recommended specs that match the name.

To take advantage of this gift Bethesda recommends an Intel Core i7-5820K or better in the CPU slot and an NVIDIA GTX 1080 8GB GPU in the PCI-e slot. You’ll also need 8GB of RAM or more.

Those are some pretty beefy specs anyway you slice it but Fallout 4 is still pretty popular on Steam so it’s fitting the game gets an update to make it more beautiful to behold.

Update 1.9 for the PS4 and the High-Resolution Texture Pack for PC are expected to land next week though an exact date was not given.
