These tiny Arduino ‘Play Boxes’ let you play classic games on the go

At this point emulating classic videogames on an Arduino or Raspberry Pi and wrapping it up in a unique package has become pretty commonplace.

But we sometimes find one example too unique not to look at, and these ‘Play Boxes’ certainly fit the bill.

Created by YouTube channel PrCRTL, these two boxes can play various old school games such as Pong and Space Invaders using some equally old rotary dial inputs.

Inside of what looks to be a 3D printed cube, there is an Arduino running the code and displaying the games on a small 1.5 Inch OLED display. This is being powered by a  3.7 Volt rechargeable power supply, so you won’t have to deal with replacing batteries.

Unfortunately all the information we have about the Play Boxes right now was provided from the video descriptions on YouTube. We’ll try get in contact with whoever PrCRTL is, because we’d love to see this project on Instructables or hackster.io so others can replicate them.

Hopefully, if that comes to fruition, the uploader will be kind enough to give us the modified game files as well as those needed to 3D print the cases and dials. A wiring diagram for the Arduino and everything else would be icing too.
