Stranger Things Season 2 lands this Halloween

If you’re a fan of American football you’ll be aware that the Superbowl took place in Houston, Texas yesterday. (For those who care and missed it, the New England Patriots beat the Atlanta Falcons 34-28).

If you’re not a fan of the sport, there was still a reason to tune in; Lady Gaga performed at halftime wearing an outfit that made her look like a disco ball and there were a ton of trailers for upcoming movies.

One of those trailers was for Netflix’s superb supernatural series, Stranger Things. The Superbowl trailer revealed the show’s second season is scheduled to drop on October 30th of this year – yep, that’s Halloween. Check out the trailer below:

If you’ve not seen the first season, we suggest you queue it up immediately as it’s the best Steven King television show not written by Steven King.

Since the last season was available locally on Netflix, there’s no reason to expect the second season won’t be – and that’s great news. Really, it’s probably the only reason to hang onto your Netflix account now that the streaming media service has successfully blocked VPNs, preventing users from watching shows that aren’t available in their regions.

Not only that, but Stranger Things is tangentially responsible for one of this year’s best memes. The show won the gong for best ensemble in a drama at this year’s Screen Actor’s Guild award ceremony and actor David Harbour gave a rousing political speech that shocked the hell out his co-star, Winona Ryder. Naturally, since it landed on the internet, folks with too much time on their hands have had some fun.
