SA-based startups listed among world’s top 100 fintech businesses

South African-based mobile payments startups, Zoona and Wealth Migrate, have been ranked in KPMG and H2 Ventures’s FinTech 100 for 2016 list among other international players in the fintech industry.

Wealth Migrate is a global real estate investment marketplace, giving investors direct access to exclusive real estate investment opportunities in premier markets around the world.

Zoona provides technology, capital, and business support to emerging entrepreneurs in Africa, enabling them to start their own businesses as Zoona agents

The Fintech 100 list is released annually, and includes the leading 50 Fintech companies across the globe, and the most intriguing 50 ‘Emerging  Stars’ – exciting new Fintech companies with bold, disruptive and potentially game-changing ideas.

Zoona and Wealth Migrate are the only two African startups to have made the list. Wealth Migrate was nominated in the Emerging Stars category, a category that showcases 50 of the emerging Fintech stars of tomorrow.

The Fintech100 in 2016 includes:

  • 35 companies from The Americas,
  • 29 companies from the Middle East, Africa (Zoona among these),
  • 14 companies from Asia,
  • 12 companies from the UK, and
  • 10 companies from Australia and New Zealand.

“The last year has been an excellent one for Zoona in terms of international recognition. We are very proud to have won incredible awards on an international scale. Zoona won the Africa Entrepreneurship Award for Social Entrepreneurship, was a finalist in the Pricheck Fintech Awards and in the African Fintech Awards. Now we have earned another important accolade that further motivates us to carry on with our mission of helping communities thrive,” said Mike Quinn, CEO of Zoona.

“Cheers to this great achievement and more to come, and we are very humbled to start 2017 on such a high note.”
