All you need for DIY, one player Pong is some LEDs and an Arduino

Here’s a simple Arduino project that we really like: a replication of Pong using LEDs to form a rudimentary screen.

This isn’t the traditional two player pong as only one person can play at once. Instead of bouncing a ball between two paddles, there’s just one paddle and a wall. The failure state is still a miss with the paddle and the ball touching the back wall. In this way it’s a lot like Breakout without the brick breaking.

The result is a custom version of the game running on an Arduino Nano which uses 150 LEDs as a screen.

The project also involves a joystick but you can’t see it in that gif or the short video about this creation.

Everything you need to replicate this project is available on the Arduino Project Hub. The code, wiring diagram and more is all there.
