Gauteng motorists to pay more for etolls starting this month

Just when South Africans were already reeling from tax and fuel levy hikes announced by Minister of Finance, Pravin Gordhan, motorists in Gauteng can now expect to pay more for etolls as of last Friday.

Sanral today published its toll gate and etolls tariff hike structure, announcing that the hikes are effective from 3rd March 2017.

“The tariffs and amounts displayed may be adjusted annually at the discretion of the Minister of Transport provided that the proposed increase does not exceed the Consumer Price Index (CPI) calculated for the preceding 12 months,” the company said.

Sanral account holders have a 31-day grace period. Non-account holders have a seven-day grace period. The tariffs listed below are for payment received within the applicable grace period.

Below is an explanation of the discounts available to Sanral account holders.

The slight bit of good news is that the Gauteng Provincial government has promised that it won’t erect anymore etolls on Gauteng roads, so you’ll only be paying for existing ones and no additional ones in future. In theory…
