An Assassin’s Creed TV show is in the pipeline

Well, that didn’t take long.

A mere three months after Assassin’s Creed failed to impress on the silverscreen, Ubisoft has announced a planned TV series based on its stabby/parkour franchise.

This news emerged in an Ask Me Anything (AMA) on Reddit yesterday with the franchise’s content manager, Aymar Azaizia.

This shouldn’t come as a huge surprise as Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot announced last year that the publisher was in talks with Netflix to produce a series based on one of its game franchises, but he didn’t mention any series by name.

Yesterday during the AMA one curious poster asked, “Could you tell us more about the “TV Show” project for AC?”

Azaizia replied: “It’s like the movie guys, we will take our time, to get sure we deliver something we can be proud of, but if you wander if it’s on our plan… YES.”

Naturally Azaizia didn’t go into specifics about what fans could expect from the TV show – well, the show hasn’t really been officially announced yet – but it’s nice to have confirmation at any rate. There’s no word yet that if Ubisoft Studios will be making the show or whether it’ll dovetail into the lore put in place by the Assassin’s Creed movie, which came out in December.

Speaking of the movie – which we didn’t like all that much – there’s apparently a sequel planned for that too. If we could add our two cent’s worth, please, whomever’s in charge of this project, make sure that the lion’s share of the movie takes place in the past. Like, ya know, the games?
