When Facebook launched disappearing multimedia status messages last week it didn’t go down too well with a lot of users. But now it seems that the old format will be making a come back.
WhatsApp replaced the traditional status message, which appeared under a person’s name in the contacts tab, with the ability to add multimedia as a status that disappears after 24 hours, or when replaced.
Many users called for traditional status messages to make a come back, especially for those not interested in using the new feature.
According to Gadgets 360, a beta version of the app now shows the old format, which appears just below your name when one clicks on your profile. It’s likely that this will also appear on the contacts list, as it did previously.
The feature is still in beta for some community members and there’s no time frame on when it might be released publicly, but at least we can all breathe a sigh of relief knowing it’s on its way.
