Nimuno Loops – the SA made ‘LEGO tape’ – finishes crowdfunding with R22 million

Earlier today the Indiegogo campaign for Nimuno Loops closed at $1 609 349 (more than R22 million).

This month this new project became the internet’s darling with forums and social networks flooding with talks of a ‘LEGO tape’ that allowed you to build with bricks on any surface that the tape could stick to.

It was also a pleasant surprise to find out that the product is a South African invention, with the Cape Town-based Chrome Cherry Design Studio (CCDS) being responsible for its creation.

With some of the fervour died down the campaign has blown way past its original $8 000 (~R100 000) funding goal. That means that the project is 20115% funded according to Indiegogo.

41 457 backers from around the world have put their money behind the project, so now we wait to see what the final product will look like, and if it will ship in its estimated delivery period of July-August this year.

“It’s been an incredibly exciting, reassuring, and at times overwhelming month but we are so grateful for the support and excitement people have shown toward Nimuno Loops,” Said Max Basler, one of the creators, “Now its time for the behind the scenes work to get going, we are looking forward to shipping and having thousands of people around the world get creative with Nimuno.”
