There are many ways to pay for an Uber ride and now there’s one more, a gift card.
That’s right, in addition to being able to pay by credit card, cash or promo voucher, riders can now purchase gift cards from Pick n Pay. You can also purchase gift cards for UberEATS.
The cards are available in R100 and R200 denominations and, if your ride or UberEATS bill is less than the gift card, amount the balance will remain on your account for use at a later stage.
How to load an Uber gift card
Loading the gift card onto your Uber account is pretty straight forward but the words “gift card” don’t actually appear in the app so it could be a bit confusing. To address that here’s how to load a gift card you’ve bought.
First you need to open the app and navigate to Payment in the menu. Once within the Payment sub-menu select Promotions and then Add Promo/Gift Code. Enter the code on your gift card and the amount will be added to your account.
There are a few terms and conditions that go along with this offer that we urge you to read through. For instance once a voucher is loaded onto your account it becomes the default payment method so if you want to save the voucher for a rainy day you’d have to change that before requesting a ride.
