Could the end of Hlaudi finally be in sight?

[UPDATE as at 4pm: Hlaudi Motsoeneng has been fired from the SABC]

For the first time since his unlawful appointment as SABC COO, the ruthless reign of Hlaudi Motsoeneng may finally be coming to an end.

Motsoeneng was this morning found guilty of bringing the SABC into disrepute and causing damage to his employer at a disciplinary hearing on the four-hour long self-glorification fest held under the guise of a press conference to state his opinion on last year’s Parliamentary inquiry, the ad-hoc committee’s report and the interim board.

During the press conference, Motsoeneng launched scathing attacks on the interim SABC board, continued to defend his 90% local music quota policy and his appointments to top positions at the SABC.

The disciplinary hearing began last month and was concluded last week.

Motsoeneng has been without portfolio for months at the SABC after a ruling at the Western Cape High Court dictated that he be removed from his position as GE of Corporate Affairs and not hold any position pending a review and setting aside of the Public Protector’s report.

According to News24, the interim SABC board will today have a meeting to discuss the ruling by disciplinary hearings chair advocate, Nazeer Cassim.

This could be the beginning of the end Motsoeneng, who previously enjoyed the backing and protection of Faith Muthambi, who is no longer Communications Minister, the former board which was totally dissolved and former acting CEO, James Aguma, who has been suspended.
