Xbox One X gets a local price tag of R7 499

Microsoft’s latest console, the Xbox One X, was revealed during the firm’s E3 keynote last night.

The latest iteration of Microsoft’s console is capable of running games at 4K resolution and that comes at a price, R7 499 to be exact.

The console also boasts support for HDR10 which should mean a wider colour gamut thanks to its use of the Rec. 2020 colour space. The Xbox One X also has support for AMD’s FreeSync technology and can output 4K gaming at 60Hz thanks to the inclusion of an HDMI 2.0b port.

It’s worth pointing out that your TV will need to have an HDMI 2.0b input to experience UHD gaming at 60 frames per second.

Xbox One X Enhanced

While Microsoft has said that “all games look and play great on the Xbox One X” only select titles will take advantage of the new console’s enchanced specifications.

At time of writing that list is rather small comprising of Crackdown 3, Assassin’s Creed Origins, Super Lucky’s Tale and Star Wars Battlefront 2. We expect to see more titles being enhanced as we approach the One X’s release date.

Speaking of which, when can we expect the One X locally?

If you head over to the local Xbox website you’ll see a rather vague “coming soon” note but according to The Verge the console will launch worldwide on 7th November.

Time to start saving then.
