South Africa came together in the spirit of Ubuntu (humanity) in response to the recent Western Cape disasters. Banks, retailers, NGOs and private companies are amongst those who donated to the victims of these disasters.

As part of the call, Tarsus Distribution, a subsidiary of Tarsus Technology Group, is donating a percentage of their profit on all Dell products sold between 12 June – 30 June to the relief efforts.

“The relief efforts that are underway can’t erase the damage, but they can certainly help ease the suffering of those affected by the fires and drought, and Tarsus Technology Group is humbled to be among those who responded to the call,” said Gary Pickford, Tarsus Distribution CEO.

Between June 6 and June 10, fires destroyed more than 600 structures in various locales across the Western Cape when gale force winds exceeding 90 km/h made firefighting extremely difficult, making this one of the worst disasters in South African history.

The Western Cape, which was declared a disaster zone last month by Premier Hellen Zille, is experiencing its worst drought in the past 100 years, with level four water restrictions in place across the Western Cape and the city of Cape Town calling for water resilience proposals.
