Business Printer Roundup – Which is right for you?

HP Pagewide Pro 452dw

Medium size, well done
Speed and economy are two of the most important factors to consider when purchasing a printer. There are other factors to keep in mind, of course, but a slow printer can be a source of frustration. In this day and age, it really doesn’t have to be that way, and neither should anyone spend too much on ink.

There are two main types of printers aimed at business and consumers: inkjet and laser. Inkjet printers tend to be cheaper and use moving print heads to get those prints out. The HP 452dw shakes things up with HP’s brand new “PageWide” technology – an inkjet print head spread across the entire width of the page, so there’s no head movement during the printing process.

A side effect of this new tech is incredibly fast printing of up to 70 pages per minute. As to first page out time, the 452dw is able to produce the first page in 6 seconds (B&W) and 6.5 seconds (colour).

But even better than raw speed, the lack of moving print head parts means far less wear and tear on the printer, which translates to lower maintenance requirements and less chance of the printer breaking down.

The 452dw is also packed with technology that will make a day at the office that much easier, including Wi-Fi Direct and NFC which allows you to print simply by touching your device to the printer. Apple AirPrint – wireless printing from devices like iPhones and iPads – is also supported.

Other handy functions such as printing from USB are available, as well as being able to enter a PIN to retrieve your print job – great for printing sensitive documents.

As to what the 452dw is capable of, the printer is rated to produce up to 80 000 pages every month which should suit a small office with high print volume requirements just fine.
