Jaguar is using the Gorillaz app to find coders to recruit

Are you an electronic or software engineer looking for a job? Good news: Jaguar Land Rover is looking for recruits and it has a rather novel way of finding them.

The vehicle manufacturer has teamed up with Gorillaz and is hoping that aspiring techies will heed the call.

The recruitment drive is being done through the Gorillaz App. The app features a new recruitment area which is meant to be the garage the band uses. In this 360-degree garage users will be able to assemble Jaguar’s I-PACE concept.

While that is cool users will also be able to take part in a second stage which tasks them with cracking a code. This part of the challenge is aimed specifically at “budding electronic wizards and coders” and according to Jag there are 4 000 combinations which solve the problem. A cipher is also hidden in AR.

Crack the code and you might get yourself a job at Jaguar Land Rover in the UK.

“As the automotive industry transforms over the next decade, fuelled by software innovation, we have to attract the best talent and that requires a radical rethink of how we recruit,” said Alex Heslop, Head of Electrical Engineering at Jaguar Land Rover.

It’s rather brave of the firm to say that it wants to find folks that display a real knack for coding and design rather than somebody with a degree. Note that Jaguar is still accepting applications as it normally would via email and we’re sure an applicable degree won’t hurt your chances of landing a job.

The competition is global which means that you could be tapped up to get a job at Jaguar Land Rover. The app is available to download for iOS and Android and you can find out more about the competition in the video we’ve embedded below.
