Lootcrates in Star Wars Battlefront II will contain perks, parts, abilities and weapons

Launching in November of this year Star Wars Battlefront II was impressing the community with additions requested from the first game, and the announcement that all of its DLC would be free.

But, because we seem to live in the darkest timeline and this is EA we’re talking about, we also learned that the game would have lootcrates which seem to be in every game we play.

We’ve had few details in the past about how this crate system will work, but we now have a proper look thanks to the YouTube channel BattlefrontUpdates which was sponsored to cover the game and got an exclusive look in what was labelled as a closed alpha.

If you don’t have time to watch the sub six-minute video, scroll past the embed below and we’ll give you the summary.

Crates in Battlefront II will come in several types of rarities with the quality of their contents correlating to that rarity.

The main way to get crates is with Credits which are awarded with most of the gameplay, but a real money option will also likely be available.

The three main contents of the crates are: Star Cards which are applied to loadouts to grant perks, abilities and weapons, crafting parts explained below, and more credits to get even more crates.

Crafting parts are another form of currency in Battlefront II that can be used to upgrade Star Cards to higher qualities. It’s stated in the video that this is intended to take some of the luck out of getting the upper tier Star Cards.

One noticeable admission from the crates in this early build is any kind of cosmetics, which is usually the bread and butter of systems like this. Not only does it steal away my dream of gunning down Clones as a pink Droideka, but it also means that your performance in the game will be more closely tied to how much you can spend and how lucky you are when opening crates.

We’ll have to see how this develops as we get closer to the release date.
