An Assassin’s Creed Anime is currently in development

Adi Shankar, the Executive Producer in charge of Netflix’s Castlevania (which premieres tomorrow) put out an announcement yesterday on his Facebook page stating that he’ll be heading up the production of an Assassin’s Creed anime.

Ubisoft have yet to make an official announcement regarding this but the chief executive officer Yves Guillemot has previously mentioned last year that they were in talks with Netflix regarding a TV series. Assassin’s Creed content head, Aymar Azazia hosted a reddit AMA earlier this year confirming that a show was in the pipeline.

Ubisoft themselves are no strangers to film and TV, having an entire division dedicated to it called Ubisoft Motion Pictures. Ubisoft Motion Pictures created the Assassin’s Creed movie that released last year December as well as the lesser known Rabbids Invasion TV show for Nickelodeon.

With Shankar heading up production, fans of the franchise will be glad to know that it’s in capable hands. Now we just have to wait and see if it’s anything like the games or if it follows an entirely new story.
