Half-Life is about to return… as a comic book

Will Half-Life 3 ever see the light of day? Does anyone really care anymore?

Of course they do! Fans of Valve’s seminal FPS series still create everything from 3D prints to mods to fan fiction. Heck, there’s even a fan made game in the pipeline that Valve has officially approved.

Now there’s a new project set for release in the form of a comic book. It’s called Half-Life: A Place In The West – Chapter 3. According to a report on Eurogamer.net, the comic book started off as a fan-made venture but Valve has allowed its creators to use the Half-Life brand in an official capacity.

Here’s the official blurb:

Half-Life: A Place in the West is a licensed, fan-made comic book set within Valve’s acclaimed Half-Life universe, in which Earth has fallen under the grip of the totalitarian Combine empire following a scientific experiment gone very wrong.

As a group of military commandos sweep across the American wasteland kidnapping children, a troubled father, an intrepid young scientist, and an ancient alien warrior are drawn to the strange city from which the attackers sprung: New Franklin. Once inside, they discover a powerful secret – but the city holds many dangers, and deceptive temptations.

Faced with warring clans, diabolical experiments, a treacherous conspiracy, and the growing shadow of the Combine, they must unlock New Franklin’s mysteries before it’s too late – and the lives of everyone in the city hang in the balance.

Now, before you all go running down to your local comic book shop to set up a standing order, it’s worth pointing out that Half-Life: A Place In The West – Chapter 3 is only available through Steam as a download. If you’re interested it drops on 21 July (the same day that RUSH kicks off).
