Quest Rogue gets the boot in latest Hearthstone patch

Last night Blizzard patched Hearthstone to version 8.4 and there are a ton of changes to take note of.

Before we dive into those changes, good news.

As you might know the Knights of the Frozen Throne (KFT) expansion is headed to Hearthstone in August. Blizzard is giving players the chance to earn a few card packs from the expansion in the build up to the release according to Hearthpwn.

The Frost Festival is an event that has been spotted in the game’s code. The event will take place over three weeks and playing three games in the Arena (a mode where players draft cards selected randomly) will earn you a KFT card pack every week. Blizzard will also give you one free Arena entry which usually costs 150 gold or €1.49.

A change comes on an icy wind

So onto the changes. Firstly, you can now buy KTF packs in the game client which is nice.

The Rogue Quest card The Caverns Below has been nerfed and now reads “Play five minions with the same name”. The card can be deconstructed for its full dust value of 1 600 until 24th July.

A number of existing cards have been added to the Elemental tribe as well. These cards are Mana Geode (the Crystal it creates when healed is also an Elemental), Jade Spirit, Flame of Azzinoth (created by Illidan Stormrage), Djinni of Zephyrs and Hallazeal The Ascended.

Cleaning up the Arena

For those that prefer trying to get 12 wins in Arena, Blizzard has made how often certain cards will appear clearer.

In the current meta the cards are weighted as such. Class minions are +100% more common than Neutral cards, Class Spells and Weapons are +175% more common than Neutral cards and some Journey to Ungoro cards have received a +50% increase in appearance.

We say some because Vicious Fledgling will appear in drafts 50% less often than it currently is. Flamestrike and Abyssal Enforcer are getting the same treatment.

While many will bemoan this change, at least the cards can still be drafted. According to Blizzard the following cards won’t feature in the drafting stage at all.

Jungle Giants, The Marsh Queen, Open the Waygate, The Last Kaleidosaur, Awaken the Makers, The Caverns Below, Unite the Murlocs, Lakkari Sacrifice, Fire Plume’s Heart, Klaxxi Amber Weaver, Dark Arakkoa, Cult Sorcerer, Hooded Acolyte, Twilight Darkmender, Blade of C’Thun, Usher of Souls, Ancient Shieldbearer, Twilight Geomancer, Disciple of C’Thun, Twilight Elder, C’Thun’s Chosen, Crazed Worshipper, Skeram Cultist, Twin Emperor Vek’lor, Doomcaller, C’Thun, Dust Devil, Totemic Might, Ancestral Healing, Windspeaker, Sacrificial Pact, Sense Demons, Void Crusher, Succubus, Savagery, Soul of the Forest, Mark of Nature, Warsong Commander, Rampage, Starving Buzzard, Timber Wolf, Snipe, Mind Blast, Lightwell, Purify and Inner Fire.

That’s a fair amount of cards but we like to think Blizzard knows what its doing with its game.

The question now is what Legendary should you craft with the 1 600 dust from the Rogue quest? I’ve had my eye on White Eyes for a while now so I may be tempted to craft it. What will you craft? Let us know in the comments below.
