Blade Runner VR game revealed at Comic-Con

Every fan of all things geek who isn’t in San Diego this week must be feeling the weight of FOMO pretty heavily.

This is because San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) is currently underway and the next few days will see a veritable nerd smorgasbord of trailers, panel discussions, toys, videogames, cosplay and, yes, comics.

Naturally what happens at SDCC makes its way onto the web pretty quickly and one of the first tidbits we’ve picked up is pretty damn tasty. Evolve and Left 4 Dead developer Turtle Rock Studios has announced its released a Blade Runner game for Samsung’s Gear VR.

Blade Runner 2049: Replicant Pursuit puts players into the shoes of one of the titular bounty hunters piloting a spinner through the rain-slicked peaks of Los Angeles in pursuit of – you guessed it – a rogue replicant. Attendees at SDCC can have a hands-on with the game during the Con, but everyone else will have to wait until this Friday. If you want a taste of what to expect have a gander at the trailer below:

In case you were wondering this is a tie-in game to the upcoming Blade Runner 2049 movie, starring Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford and Jared Leto. According to a post on the Oculus official blog, the game is also one of a trio of titles set in the movie’s dystopian world.

Two more interactive Blade Runner experiences (available on both Gear VR and Rift) are coming out around the film’s premiere in October. “Not only will these experiences give people a taste of this beloved neo-noir universe in a uniquely visceral way, they’ll also expand the overall story for a transmedia encounter like no other,” the blog reads.

In case you missed it, a new trailer for the movie dropped recently and we’ve posted it below, because we love you.
