Britehouse has created a bespoke app to track a World Record attempt

Golfer, Adam Rolston, is about to embark on the longest game of his life as Mongolia becomes one huge golf course.

The golfer along with caddy and local adventurer Ron Rutland are currently trekking through 1 850km of Mongolian terrain playing golf in an attempt to set a World Record and raise funds for Laureus Sport for Good.

Accompanying Rolston and Rutland is a smartphone with a very special app created by Britehouse, a division of local firm Dimension Data.

Britehouse has created an app that will be used during the attempt to track the location of the golfers, track penalty shots, and keep score. Rolston will also be able to take photos with the app.

All of the data collected is being sent to the Longest Hole website.

The app and website have been developed using ASP.NET MVC framework on Visual Studio 2017 and uses Microsoft Azure Cloud Services.

“We’ll be playing the entire route as one single golf hole, and completely within the spirit and laws of the game, which means teeing off at the start, playing the ball as it lies all the way, and putting out at the end,” said Rutland in a statement.

For those who are curious the par for Mongolia is 14 000.
