SAP interim management team appointed

Software firm SAP has appointed an interim management board for its African operations.

This follows four of its management team being placed on administrative leave, pending the outcome of a forensic investigation into allegations regarding one of its contracts.

Ashley Boag steps into Acting Chief Operating Officer, Peter David, is now acting CFO for Africa; Pieter Bouwer is South African MD and Claas Kuehnemann takes on the role of Acting Managing Director.

“It is important to us that all SAP staff, clients, and partners have the support they need, and that business continues uninterrupted. We have appointed a strong leadership team to ensure our usual standards of service and strategic support are upheld,” Kuehnemann said.

The management reshuffle follows accusations against SAP that it paid Gupta-linked 3D printing firm CAD House $7.8 million (~R100 million) to secure contracts with Transnet. In the wake of this news, SAP said it would be launching an investigation. The investigation will be overseen by SAP executive board member Adaire Fox-Martin.

In the days following SAP’s announcement, the Democratic Alliance revealed its intention to lay charges of money laundering and corruption against the local arm of SAP and CAD House.
