Esports action continues this weekend as eight of South Africa’s best Dota 2 teams face off in the VS Gaming Dota 2 Grand Finals being held at the EGE Expo in Cape Town.
Something of interest is that all teams will win a share of the R550 000 prize pool. While the winners will walk away with R220 000, even if a team places dead last they will get R27 500.
Among the competitors are last year’s winners of the DGL Masters Dota 2 tournament White Rabbit Gaming.
The teams trying to claim the crown from WRG are Sinister5, Pulse Gaming, Aperture Gaming, Energy Esports, Bravado Gaming, Exdee Gaming, and XTC Gaming rounds off the competitors.

“In the past we have held our DOTA 2 and CS:GO finals together but this year we have decided to give our DOTA 2 clans an exclusive stage because of this partnering with EGE. This way we can bring VS Gaming to Cape Town and allow our DOTA 2 clans to battle it out on centre stage,” chief executive officer of VS Gaming, Cambridge Mokanyane said in a statement.
The duos of Devin ‘Hellbird’ Rigotti and Jackie ‘Rainz’ Chung as well as Jonathan ‘Jubba’ Simon and Jeanot ‘Skaapie’ Beetge will be handling casting duties.
Providing analysis and commentary from the panel between games will be Nicholas ‘WilsonXXXL’ Marsicano, Chanel ‘Succubus’ van der Merwe and Sean ‘Snare’ Rihlamvu.
Gareth ‘Lord Roshford’ Woods and Ryan ‘Parker’ Macquet will host the event on the main stage at EGE.
If you’re unable to attend EGE and you’re worried you’ll be missing out on some first class esports action never fear. The Grand Finals will be streamed live on YouTube a link to which we’ve embedded below.
