Back in July dotAfrica domains were made available to all, but you’ve had to pay in dollars for the generic Top Level Domain (gTLD) until today.
Local domain registrar Domains.co.za has revealed local pricing for standard dotAfrica domains and all it will cost you is R350 with annual domain renewal coming in at R250.
“.Africa now gives us an opportunity to encourage not only South African, but other African countries’ business owners to unite under one ‘continental-brand’ domain (.Africa) and lead the drive toward stating Africa’s economic standpoint to the rest of the world,” chief executive officer of Domains.co.za Wayne Diamond said in a statement.
The firm says that it also offers small and medium businesses easy-to-use tools that can assist in the building of a website.
“Our Site Builder empowers them [SMEs] to build their own well-designed website aimed at the online consumer market at a fraction of the cost and time it would take an outsourced third party to develop,” says Diamond.
Companies have been urged to secure their dotAfrica domains as soon as possible to prevent intellectual property disputes and attempts of online fraud.
