This 3D Printed Baneling from StarCraft 2 lights up in the dark

Maker Andy de Bruin has created one of the mostly creepily realistic 3D prints in this Baneling from StarCraft 2.

After sculpting the creature in ZBrush from both concept and fan art, de bruin had the brilliant idea to do something special with the sacs on the Baneling’s back. Instead of being part of the main body, they are now separate pieces which are 3D printed individually, and then attached together with tabs.

The reason this was done (aside from making printing on smaller printers easier) is because the sacs were printed in a different filament that glows in the dark, giving the Baneling a great look at night. This is also “useful as a nightstand or to scare the sh*t out of your girlfriend”.

After printing, sanding, and filling, the finished model was painted with acrylics by brush. We must commend the work here, as the little details such as the teeth were done flawlessly.

You can find the files to print your own over on MyMiniFactory. We also suggest checking out this video, which is a 360° turnaround render of the model.
