We Happy Few has a release date

We Happy Few, Compulsion Games’s incredibly freaky first-person horror game, has been in a kind of limbo since it was first revealed back in 2015.

Initially slated to see the light of day in 2016, the game’s release date was then pushed back and all players have had to go on since is a beta build that’s been doing the rounds for a while. In the interim, Compulsion Games managed to bag a movie deal for its game, but no one knew when it was going to see release.

That is, until now.

Compulsion Games has announced that We Happy Few will land on PC, Xbox One and PS4 on 18 April next year. That last tidbit about Sony’s console will probably be of some interest to PlayStation owners, since up until now, We Happy Few was slated for release only on Xbox One and PC.

We Happy Few will be published by Gearbox Publishing and apparently players can expect a full fat experience with “three different characters and more than 250 unique encounters.”

“Our team was humbled by the initial public reception to We Happy Few, and delighted to have this chance to make it bigger,” said Guillaume Provost, Studio Head of Compulsion Games.

“Gearbox believed in us from the very beginning, and we think this partnership will make it possible to create the game that our community expects,” he said.
