Blizzard to address Hearthstone’s Druid problem later this week

The Hearthstone community has been pleading with Blizzard to step in and address the growing problem of the Druid class and the developer has responded.

Hearthstone game director Ben Brode took to Twitter at the weekend to let Tavern goers know that Blizzard has heard their cries of anguish.

For those that aren’t aware the Druid class received an unexpected gift in the form of three new cards: Spreading Plague, Malfurion the Pestilent and Ultimate Infestation.

These cards combined with the ability to rack up more mana crystals than your opponent meant that Ranked play has been dominated by the class with very few decks – never mind classes – able to compete against its power.

This power is beautifully demonstrated by Hearthstone Replay. The service allows players to track their games and get a deeper insight into their matchups.

In one particularly powerful Jade Druid deck Ultimate Infestation is played on turn eight, on average. That means a 10-mana spell is being played two turns before an opponent is expecting it.

Beyond that, if you happen to draw this card in your opening hand you can expect to win 61.5% of the time.

But new cards aren’t the only problem. Wild Growth and Innervate have been slammed by the community with some saying Innervate needs to go straight to the Hall of Fame.

While we wait for Blizzard to announce what its plans are for Druid check out Reynad’s concerns below.
