Female ex-Google employees file lawsuit for gender-based pay discrimination

Google is facing a lawsuit from three of its former female employees who accuse the search engine company of discrimination with regards to pay and promotions.

The lawsuit was filed in a California state court yesterday, according to Reuters.

The three women worked at Google as a software engineer, a communications specialist and a manager who worked in various roles, respectively.

“While Google has been an industry-leading tech innovator, its treatment of female employees has not entered the 21st century,” the trio’s lawyer, Kelly Dermody said.

Google denied the claim that the company paid women less for similar jobs than men and didn’t offer women enough opportunities for promotion.
