ShowMax drops trailer for local drama Waterfront

If you’re looking for a local drama to sink your teeth into next month, then rejoice, as ShowMax has dropped a new trailer for Waterfront.

Billed as a family noir drama, Waterfront lands on kykNET on 10th of October and then hits ShowMax the following day.

The locally produced drama tells the story of three daughters who return to the Mother City upon hearing that their boat-building magnate father has passed away. This naturally leads to sibling rivalry concerning who will inherit the family business raising its ugly head, along with the revelation of some pretty dark family secrets. Have a gander at the trailer below:

According to the press release, the show’s creators were aiming for a particularly moody atmosphere with Waterfront, much in the same vein as TV shows like The Killing or the Netflix family drama Bloodlines.

While the idea of a dark drama set near the V&A Waterfront involving gentrification may strike some as underwhelming, we’re willing to give this one a punt.

We have to take our collective hat off to ShowMax. This year it’s added some stunning shows to its roster including The Young Pope, Taboo, Invader Zim, South Park and the brand new series of Mr. Robot too. If you’re looking to binge-watch TV shows in the run up to Christmas, you could do worse.
