Another sword from The Witcher 3 gets the 3D printed treatment

With all the unique swords in the Witcher 3, and the rest of the series, there’s a lot of inspiration for makers to come in and 3D print the lot of them.

Israel Oliveira took a stab at making his own full size print of Aerondight by first trying to work out the scale of sword using reference pictures and mentions of Geralt’s height.

Modelling took around a week to complete in Fusion 360 with a further week for printing after that, with each section of the blade eating up six to eight hours.

The result is a rather hefty weapon measuring in at 54″ (137cm) long. That ornate guard featuring the wolf heads is the widest part at 15″ (38cm).

When we were speaking to Oliveira about the design he told us that a long rod running the length of the prop would be a better solution for rigidity compared to the pegs and screws used in the impressive finished print in the gallery below.

If you would like to take a shot at making your own, all the finals are available on MyMiniFactory. Alternatively: check out the previous 3D printed sword from The Witcher 3 that we featured back in June.
