Game developers – Apply for the Goethe-Institut Game Mixer now

Are you a game developer looking to widen your skill set? Well then the Goethe-Institut’s Game Mixer South Africa might be just up your alley.

Pegged as ten-day bootcamp for developers, the Game Mixer will bring together developers from not just South Africa, Indonesia, Brazil and Germany, but the rest of Sub-Saharan Africa as well.

Running from 16th to 24th November, The bootcamp will feature a Game Camp where attendees will take part in talks, DIT workshops and more. Thereafter the developers will visit game studios in Johannesburg, and participate in a game jam where they will create game prototypes.

If this sounds like the type of thing you’d be interested in, you need to get your application in by 5th October (which is tomorrow).

To attend you will need to be a developer at an African game company which has released at least one game. You will also need to be able to attend the full ten days of the mixer and be able to communicate in English.

Travel expenses and accommodation for participants living outside of Johannesburg will be paid for by the Goethe-Institut.

As for the application you will need to submit the following to be considered to attend the event:

  • CV highlighting your professional background
  • One-page letter of motivation.
  • One-page profile of your studio including: founding date, number of games produced / released, number of developers, performance (e.g. downloads, users, revenue).
  • One-page summary of one product that you want to highlight in the showcase including: game details, game performance (e.g. downloads, users, revenue, KPIs), screenshots.

These documents need to be emailed to Ralf.Eppeneder.extern@goethe.de by 5th October. For more information about the Game Mixer you can head to the Goethe-Institut website.
