Vodacom out-of-bundle rates to drop later this month

From mid-October Vodacom customers will be getting a haircut on out-of-bundle rates.

A statement released by Vodacom reveals that from 15th October the network will drop its out-of-bundle rate by as much as 50% when it rolls out its new 99c per megabyte tariff plan.

Vodacom group chief executive officer Shameel Joosub says that the network has reduced the price of data by 18.9% over the last year but added that more needed to be done.

“We need to expand 4G coverage still further, and keep pace with an increase of more than 45% in sustained data traffic demand,” said Joosub.

The CEO went on to say that lack of access to spectrum stops Vodacom from driving down infrastructure costs which would mean lower prices for customers.

In an effort to help customers Vodacom recently introduced measures such as out-of-bundle spend notifications to encourage in-bundle data usage.

“All customers receive the first notification once R10 has been spent out-of-bundle, and depending on the customer profile, they can be sent up to 10 trigger notifications to encourage in-bundle data usage,” said Vodacom.
